The Readers Purse pattern is designed so that a paperback book can be easily carried. A pattern for a larger book pocket is included if you would like to carry a larger book.
In the pattern are instructions for additional pockets for pens, 2 inside flat pockets, and a center zippered pocket.
Finished size is 9" tall x 10" wide x 2 1/2" deep. The book pocket sizes are 6" tall x 7" wide z 1 1/4" deep for the small book and 7" tall x 8 1/4" wide x 1 1/2" deep for the larger book pocket.
Materials Needed:
- 2/3 yd. - Fabric A (The main body and inside flat pockets)
- 1/3 yd. Fabric B (Large front flap and book loop)
- 1 1/2 yd. - Fabric C (Book pocket, pen pocket, purse loop, and lining of main purse)
- 1/2 yd. - Fabric D (Straps, button loop, and center zippered pocket)
- 11 1/2" x 21 1/2" , 8" x 9" and (8" x 20 1/2" for small book pocket or 10" x 25" for large book pocket) pieces of Batting
- 2" x 10" piece of 6mm foam (available at craft or fabric store)
- 3 - 1" buttons
- 1 - 9" zipper that matches Fabric D
