The Dowel purse pattern is a small handbag but can hold a large wallet and has a place for keys, a cell phone, and a special pocket for pens.  Dowels will be needed for this pattern and the best fabric to use is cotton or a lightwieght drapery fabric.  Finished size is 7"H x 8"W x 4 1/2"D). Calculations are based on 42" wide fabric.

Materials Needed:

• 2/3 yd - main fabric
• 2/3 yd - lining fabric
• 1/3 yd - batting
• 4 - 3/4" buttons - 2 additional buttons will be needed if used as decoration on the front of the purse
• 4" long piece of 3/4" Velcro
• 2 - 6 1/2" long pieces of 3/8" dowel
• 4 - 1" dowel caps with 3/8" hole
• 7 3/4" x 4 1/4" piece 6mm foam (found in fabric and craft stores)
• 1 Velcro dot
