Welcome to the April, 2009 Edition of Henrietta's Handbags Newsletter

We are looking forward to the Quilt Market next month and hope to find all kinds of new purse patterns there! Our goal is to have the biggest selection available for you to choose from and I believe we are well on our way to achieving that aspiration!

New Australian patterns should be arriving soon, including Birdhouse Designs and, of course, we are constantly updating our line of "Home Grown" Designers. I actually got to meet one of my favorites, Jackie of Jackie's Desighns (Posh Patterns) last month and she is as charming as her patterns!

Enjoy the lovely stirrings of the Earth this Spring, and make sure to honor this planet we share, not just this week but every day!

Free Patterns from StudioKat Designs!

StudioKat Designs continues to make us happy with an ever increasing line of quality patterns! To that mix, she has now added a free pattern page with such wonderful offerings as a rug bucket bag, a cash-keeper, an ID tag, and an Aeropac (great for plane trips!). Next month she will be adding a new pattern which we plan on carrying as soon as it is hot off the presses!

Julia from Clayton, NC had made a stunning Margaret Ann Slingback pattern and used a fabric scene for the back of her purse!

Earth Week

In honor of Earth Week, I am including some information on Green Fabrics.

Renewable Fabric - This is fabric made from sustainable (farmed materials grown as crops) materials including hemp, bamboo, soy, and cotton.

Recycled Fabrics - Fabrics that can be made from recycled plastic bottles (milk, soda, etc.) and other containers. These can be made into fibers which are combined with other fibers. The result can be a fabric that has superior strength and be light weight.

Organic Fabrics - These are made from certified organic crops (the best know is organic cotton). Certification means that the soil must be pesticide and chemical free for more than 3 years.
