Large Drawstring Tote Bag Pattern by Quilts Illustrated

Sturdy and large drawstring tote bag pattern with a rigid bottom and straps that are the perfect length to carry either in the hands or over the shoulder. Finished size is 18" square and 5" deep.

Materials Needed:

2/3 yd of each print for the outside of the bag. In the illustration, 2 contrasting prints are used or you can use a different print for each square (you will then need eight 10 1/2" squares of contrasting prints)
2/3 yd contrasting print for bag lining
Scraps for the fabric covering the rigid bag bottom
1 1/2 yd medium weight fusible batting (Pellon fusible fleece #987f)
2 - 5" x width of fabric for fabric pull string style handle OR
2 1/2 yds purchased cording
Cardboard or Matte board for bottom
